A Bit About Berit

Life is precious, let’s not miss it.

Hi, I’m Berit. As a writer and aspiring author, I wanted to create an inviting space to connect with people, especially women, to relate about some of the things we experience as we go through life.

Like most people, life has provided me the opportunity to engage in many roles. I have the deeply satisfying roles of being a wife, friend and family member, who is also part of so many kind communities. The most challenging, meaningful and consequential role has been motherhood. I’m the grateful mom of four wonderful adult children. While my family is central to my life, I respect their privacy and will share stories only with their permission and blessing.

A Bit About Resiliency

Along life’s journey, I’ve experienced tremendous joy, heartbreaking challenges, unexpected adventures and a few experiences that changed the trajectory of my life. These include surviving a sexual assault in 1991 and helping my youngest daughter through brain cancer treatment in 2008 and recovery in the years that followed. While I would never have chosen either journey, both profoundly shaped who I am and deepened my appreciation for resilience, compassion and the importance of showing up for one another.

I believe that life’s greatest meaning doesn’t come from achievement alone. Rather, it comes from the people whom we love and cherish, the connections we make and the kindness we receive—sometimes from complete strangers—when we need it most.

A Bit About Joy

I’ve come to appreciate just how precious and fleeting life is, especially as I’ve grown older. I try to notice the beauty that surrounds us: a breathtaking sunset, the endless shades of blue in the ocean, a stunning bouquet of peonies.

I’m also a lifelong believer in the power of a great outfit. I have a passion for fashion and believe in dressing for all of life’s occasions. What I wear is an extension of who I am. When I’m not writing, you might find me golfing, working out (with varying degrees of enthusiasm), enjoying the beach in the sunshine, shopping, traveling, escapades with friends and being with family.

Thank you for discovering and reading my blog. Join me as I share life experiences, explore beauty and style, celebrate what matters most and occasionally philosophize about this marvelously complicated, ever-unfolding and never-boring thing we call life!
