It’s an historic day and I am in NYC on the 14th anniversary of 9/11.  It also happens to be Fall Fashion Week.  Next week, I will try to post about some of the trends I’m seeing here this week.  Tonight I wanted to write about Ellen DeGeneres’ new brand (E.D.) that my husband is a founding partner of and was instrumental in creating.IMG_8098 (1)

Last night I attended a cocktail shopping party and a lovely private dinner at Bergdorf Goodman where Ellen’s “E.D.” (For Ellen Degeneres, of course) line was featured.  What a fantastic experience for me to be surrounded for a few hours with a colorful cast of characters in the fashion, media and celebrity world while viewing the elegant new E.D. merchandise especially for Bergdorf Goodman.image

It was an intimate gathering of Ellen’s family and friends.  There were many wonderful comments about her collection before Justin Timberlake broke out a case of his private label tequila (which we’re still recovering from). Highlights of celebrity sightings included Ellen DeGeneres herself along with her spouse, Portia de Rossi.  See my husband pictured with Portia and our dear friend (and the CEO of E.D.), Marisa Gardini–with Ellen in the background.IMG_8099

Other celebrities of note who were at the dinner included:  Diane Sawyer, Gayle King (whom I was seated next to at the dinner), Donna Karan, Pharrell Williams, Robin Roberts, Chris Burch, Mickey Boardman, (Has anyone else seen the documentary on Iris Apfel?  I saw it last weekend and loved it.  Mickey is prominent in the documentary of Iris’ story.) Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian!  Not a bad night for star gazing of the celebrity type for a Thursday evening in NYC….IMG_8079 (1)

IMG_8097The clothing was on display and exclusively available to Bergdorf Goodman for last evening while her new home line will be featured on the 7th floor home area of Bergdorf’s for the month of September.  Here are a few pictures from the special evening:IMG_8096image

imageThis afternoon I had the pleasure to tour the NYC office where I saw the merchandise, the story boards where designers draw their inspiration and where some of the E.D. brand work is done.  It was interesting to see part of the creative process while in the office.  Here are just a few pictures of this space:image

I now own a few pieces from her collection that I adore!  The pieces are very comfortable and made exceptionally well.  I shopped in the office this afternoon and am looking forward to wearing items I selected today when I receive them.  I hope some of you might at least check out the website.  Many of you may already know that she is an enormous animal lover, a vegan and emanates warmth in person as well. I looked up some of Ellen’s quotes this evening and there are many I truly love but I will close this post with this one: “We need more kindness, more compassion, more joy, more laughter.  I definitely want to contribute to that.”  I think she has done all this and now even MORE!
